Weddings at Hulala Lakeside Lodge

There is no better place to start your new life together – Hulala Lakeside Lodge offers you a peninsula of paradise surrounded by the Da Gama Dam, the perfect location for your wedding. We are located on the R40 between White River and Hazyview. Hulala’s Malachite Venue is defined by it’s careful attention to detail in architecture, providing a wall of glass for the magnificent view and a thatch exterior giving it a quaint touch, as well as a fireplace for those winter weddings. The Gazebo in the lush gardens is perfect for your ceremony or you may wish to make use of the Boma on the waters edge.

Hosting your Wedding at Hulala Lakeside Lodge includes

- The Cottage Suite for the Bride and Groom on the night of the wedding

  • Children

  • Co-Ordination Services

    Assistance is available by appointment to all clients throughout the planning stages of your wedding.
    A recommended list of suppliers can be provided.
    All additional services required can be arranged by Hulala at an additional fee.

  • Garden Weddings

    Hulala garden weddings are spectacular in our lush gardens and an additional payment of R3000 will be charged for set up and breakdown.

  • Sundowner Cruise

    The Sundowner is available to hire for R300 per hour if you and your guest would like to make use of it – 12 people at a time.

  • Bar Services

    Hulala is a fully licensed establishment.
    No alcohol will be served to any person under the age of 18.
    Bar requirements are to be advised.
    Full Cash bar – Guests pay for own drinks.
    Semi cash bar – Wedding party to pay for selected drinks – Tab amount to be advised and paid before departure.
    Open Bar – Wedding party to pay for all drinks Tab amount to be advised and paid for before departure.
    Special requests of specific brands of alcohol to be requested in advance- payment is required for these items in advance and should there be leftover you are permitted to take them with you.  
    No Spirits, Wines, Soft Drinks or food may be brought onto the premises without prior arrangement.  
    Non compliance with this will result in the items being confiscated and the guilty parties could be asked to leave the premises.
    No alcohol to be served after 24H00.
    A drinks and wine list is available on request.

  • Corkage Rates

    Corkage rates only apply to 750ml bottles.  
    Corkage rates are applied to all bottles opened.
    Additional items brought onto the premises without the consent of Hulala will be charged for per tot on normal bar prices.

  • Set Up/Cut Off Times

    In most cases we allow set up to begin the day before the wedding/function – This may not always be possible and will be confirmed to you.  
    Set up must be completed no less than 2 hours before the start of your function  
    Hulala staff will assist with the standard set up of the function which will include crockery, cutlery and glassware.  
    We may also assist with the setup of certain of your own non fragile décor which includes centrepieces, name tags, candles, and serviette holders.
    Décor must be removed from the venue at the end of your function

  • Overtime Rates

    Morning Weddings – a surcharge of R500.00 per hour will be charged for any hour or part thereof after 1700.
    Afternoon Weddings – a surcharge of R750.00 per hour will be charged for any hour or part thereof after 2400.

  • DJ/Entertainers and Service Providers

    DJ’S/Entertainers and all Service providers need to  adhere to all venue rules.
    Volume of music must be controlled at all times.
    Must volume must be turned down at 0000 and tuned off at 0100.
    All wires and cables must be taped to the floor and speakers should be placed where they are an obstacle and/or safety hazard for guests, employees and staff alike.  
    It is the duty of the client to advise the service providers of these rules.

  • Accommodation

    Special rates are applicable to guests attending a wedding at Hulala  
    Self catering houses on the adjacent Estate are also available to wedding guests  
    Check in is 1300  
    Check out is no later than 1100  
    Additional guests for Breakfast the morning after the wedding need to make a reservation for catering purposes. Full Breakfast is R120.00 per person  
    Should there be a requirement Hulala are able to hold a casual dinner function for your guests on the evening before a wedding.  
    Numbers would need to be confirmed one-week prior for catering purposes.

  • Breakages or Damages

    Hulala reserve the right to charge for any breakage s/loss or damage to their property as a result of your function which include glassware, cutlery, crockery, table linen and serviettes.
    Candles are permitted but need to be in a container that does not drip onto the linen.
    A refundable retainer of R1500.00 will be payable in case of any damages or loss to the property of Hulala.  
    All damages/losses will be shown to the client before and after the function.
    The retainer will be refunded within 7 days of the completion of the function.

  • Parking

    Secure parking is available and guests will be shown where to park by our staff on arrival.
    Parking is not permitted in parking bays allocated to guests staying at Hulala.

  • Reservations

    We suggest you meet with our staff before your deposit is paid.
    Bookings are confirmed by signing our terms and conditions.

    7 days prior to your function the following is required:
    - Confirmation of Menu  
    - Procedures of Wedding Day  
    - Final Checklist  
    - Bar requirements  
    - Final Numbers of Guests  
    - Balance of payment   
    - Rehearsals are permitted – please make an appointment with our staff

  • Payment

    A R7500.00 deposit is required upon making a reservation.
    The balance is due 7 days prior to your function once final numbers have been received.
    Extras are to be settled prior to your departure on the morning following your function.

  • Additional Items Required

    We are able to assist you with a list of service providers e.g. photographers, florists, wedding cake suppliers, ministers, candles, stands and vases.
    We are able to assist you in the hiring of additional items required and will then charge accordingly.  

  • Cancellations

    In the event of a cancellation or your date being rescheduled, subsequent to the deposit being paid, a full cancellation fee will apply.
    In the event of non-payment of the venue hire fees within the time specified, Hulala shall be entitled to cancel a provisional booking without further notice or liability to the client.
    In the event of non-payment of the fees within the time specified, Hulala shall be entitled to cancel a booking after notifying the client in writing.
    All monies are non-refundable once paid by the client.  

    The final number of guests as confirmed 7 days prior to the function will be the number charged for. Additional guests will be charged for with extras

    Hulala reserves the right to cancel any booking for thwith and without liability on its part in the event of any damage to, or destruction of the venue by fire, shortage of labor, strikes, industrial unrest, or any other cause beyond the control of Hulala, which shall prevent it from performing its obligations. In these circumstances, every effort will be made to find an alternative venue.

    The client must confirm all changes and cancellations in writing

  • Risk/Loss/Damage

    Hulala shall not be held liable for interruptions of services (water, electricity, sanitary services).
    Whilst every precaution will be taken to ensure the  safeguarding of your belongings, Hulala will not be liable for loss or damage to any property whatsoever (Décor props, edding gifts, valuables, etc). We recommend that all personal and valuable property be removed directly after the function.
    Décor and props must be removed by 11h00 on the day following the function. Any items not collected by this time will be removed from the venue and Hulala Lakeside Lodge will not be responsible for the storage or safekeeping of these items.
    Should the Hulala building, surrounding gardens be damaged during the set up or break down operations of the function, the client shall be held responsible and will be billed accordingly.
    Hulala Leisure Resorts CC, Hulala Lakeside Lodge, its employees or any person employed at any function will not be held liable for any loss or injury to persons, due to negligence or any other cause whatsoever.

  • General

    No hooting or loud music will be allowed in the driveways or parking areas.  
    No paper, polystyrene, rice or plastic confetti/streamers are allowed.
    Hulala welcomes the use of flower petals, potpourri, butterflies or bubbles.
    Hulala love animals – No fireworks – biodegradable floating lanterns are allowed.
